I disse prosessene blir tapte modeller innkapslet i keramiske materialer. Modellen brennes ut, og man får et formhulrom for metallstøpingen. Etter at den fylte smelten har stivnet, fjernes formen og blir dermed ødelagt. Denne metoden er spesielt egnet for metallkomponenter med - komplekse og underkuttede geometrier - tynne veggtykkelser - glatte overflater ved produksjonsvolumer fra 1 til noen hundre og med et stort materialutvalg. I dette området har vi to presisjonsstøpeprosesser tilgjengelig: kuvetten presisjonsstøping, også kjent som differensialtrykkmetoden, og skallstøping.
